The WingX program provides a powerful set of features in a single package on your Pocket PC or Smartphone device.
Features Include: The WingX program is divided into sections that can be accessed from the buttons on the main screen. The program contains a pre-defined aircraft database (fixed & rotary wing) with 490+ models for use with the graphical weight and balance calculator. The route planner is simple to use, just enter the airports or NAVAIDs along the route and the program will calculate distance and ground speed. The E6-B provides all common and advanced aviation calculations. The expirations tracking tool will keep you from missing a chart update, BFR, medical, and other currency. The reference section includes (searchable) documents such as FARs, PIREP codes and more. The NACO charts feature provides ability to download selected states to your PDA. Review
Pros: Numeric pop-up keypad, airport database (A/FD), NACO approach charts, direct-to GPS navigation, built-in download tool (makes updating easy), night mode, handy reference section, IFR rate of climb calculation, wind-optimized route planning.
Cons: No hardware button assignment, no checklisting application, approach plate downloads are slightly slow.
Platform: Windows Smartphone devices don't support SmartTaxi or Dynamic Flight Navigator (DFN).
Notes: ** Reviewed on a Dell Axim X51V **, Pocket PC 2002 devices require the Microsoft .NET CF run-time. This review has been updated from version 2.0.4.3 on September 28th, 2007. Demo only shows SJC charts, no route weather, only ID's beginning with A, E, or I will be recognized, and a few other limitations.
