Review
Pros: Desktop interface 1.9.7 (A+), powerful import tool, view log totals, currency and custom fields. View on-line videos help you learn how to use features of the logbook.
Cons: Requires Appforge Booster run-time (included), slightly sluggish, not a standalone logbook (requires PC), Pocket PC installation is slightly complicated.
Platform: None - Palm OS and Pocket PC versions have same features, except the Palm OS companion requires you to Purge PDA Database after you have imported to PC.
Notes: ** Reviewed on a Toshiba e335 and a Palm IIIc **, re-reviewed October 2004 (version 1.9.7). The PDA companion (demo) will allow you to record 10 flights (then you must purchase), you must register before you can import into the PC interface.

| "This is basically an excel spreadsheet and is probably best suited for those that would rather play with their computer than fly. By that I mean it's big and clumsy unless you really like complexity. This is not an awful program, it just trys to cover all the bases without much regard for the users time. I have always felt that the best programs are the ones you do not need documentation to use. This one has 3.5 hours of online video training as well as a lot of setup and written instructions. It should be easier, not harder than doing it manually. {version 1.10.25}" |

| "Basically just an advanced Access database with some reporting widgets built around it. Doesn't have true synchronization like a Palm user would expect. Even the PC version is missing out on any depth of pilot understanding. You're better off saving the money and making your own Excel spreadsheet.

| "I have been evaluating this software in past few weeks. The more I read about it and play with demo version I realized that is not user friendly. In addition by reading the forums I see many problems between APDL and log book pro. I was not impressed!!!! " |

| "Absolutely solid logbook software! I've used this on both the Palm and Pocket PC and nothing comes close! The PC software is clearly the best out there, I've been using it since 1998 and won't use anything else! Technical support and customer service are rapid and responsive, always with the answer! If you're not using Logbook Pro for your Pilot Logbook, you're missing out!" |
