Weight & Balance (W&B) calculator (unlimited stations) useful in quickly calculating and graphing the W&B envelope. Also calculates crosswind (XWind) see Wind (E6-B) screenshot, winds aloft, DA and TAS. Great for doing quick calculations, flight planning, and more.

Review

Pros: Super interface, memory card support, very helpful in calculating W&B. Can also assist in flight fuel/time planning, will build American, Canadian or ICAO flight plans, and supports printing & beaming.
Cons: Time consuming to configure initial W&B settings, no High-Res+ support.
Notes: Consider downloading a waypoint database from Paul Tomblin. This program also, integrates with FlightMaster for navigation and AeroTimer.

"I have used this program for years and have installed CoPilot on each new Palm device. Bush flying often requires waypoints that are not in any official database. The author was very helpful in guiding my quest for information and creating a reliable database. Each version of the software has improved a great product. Do you homework, but use CoPilot to cross check. It is well done! {version 5.3}"

"Every now and then I search the WEB for a good PDA version of E6B. Why do I bother? CoPilot is THE BEST you can get. It has just what you need to plan a flight, just put in where you want to go, the altitudes, winds, temp and crank up ole Jenny. Along with the great individualized aircraft database, this product will plan the whole flight. Though it's free I send Laurie Davis, the author a few shekles every now and then and so should you. His labor of love has turned into a great product for all flyers. {version 5.3b5}"

"Used on a Garmin iQue 3600a. Awesome program! Totally replaces the E6B & W&B that came with the GPS. Took some time setting up the aircraft, but after that, WOW! Just wish that the Route interfaced with the Active Route on the GPS. THAT would make it absolutely perfect! It may be "Freeware", but it's worth every penny of the "donation". {version 5.3}"

"If you know your terrain, get rid of plotters, FliteStar, route calculators and take your Palm flying. Databases are date and source stamped, so you know you have "legal" data at hand. Great for working out a £100 pizza trip, or Denham to LAX! Paid for it instantly via owner's site. Brilliant. {version 5.3}"

"All the positive reviews are correct. I especially like the CG program. You must download the waypoint data base but be careful what you download. I wanted most everything and my first hotsync attempt lasted over 3 hours. I later revised what I needed and it only took 15 minutes. What I am concerned about are all the comments on the program being free. It is definately worth the 20 dollars suggested. Best money you will ever spend on a great program. {version 5.2}"

"Great software. Combined with Champagne PC Services FP3000 and their supporting database, it provides a total solution. Plan on your Laptop or home /office PC using champagne, then select transfer to Palm, HotSync and you have your flightplan and waypoints downloaded to your Palm. Champagne sell a waypoint database for Australia or New Zealand, IFR or VFR, starting at around $AUD88. I have used it extensively in Australia and internationally to South Pacific destinations. The weight and balance calcs are great and provides evidence that the pilot has "satisfied" himself that the aircraft is correctly loaded. A little bit of work required getting all the W&B and aircraft details loaded for each aircraft, Champagne transfers most of the data from it's database, but you still need to fill in some blanks. The speed and power of this product is absolutely mindblowing, a "must have" for commercial operators to assist with compliance issues. {version 5.3B5}"

"I'm a Private Pilot and I use the software everytime I Fly, It's Great, and I'm very happy w/ it. Only minor bugs, tha bugs me are, When Planing a Route W/ time spend on the ground, when it's inserted my Zire 72 Crashes... It happens with alternate legs too. I don't know if the problem is me, or it's a software bug, but I wold like to report it... Maybe it Can Help to make it Better {version 5.0}"

Developer's Response: "The crash referenced in this review was fixed in version 5.1 of CoPilot."

"Basic program is good . However to be complete, it needs a Waypont data base and Obsticle data base from third parties. There are still problems if using an Ique3600. Also getting support from the Waypoint data base (Airports, VORs, NDBs) provider is dependent on which side of the bed he arose from that day. No problem getting the Obsticle data. After installing the Waypoint DB (generating it is a chore) the last one, the obsticle db vanished!! If it works for you, donate to the progammers. Read their web site info. {version 5}"

"Wow! Uncomparable!!! I downloaded it for trial. Three hours later I got back online and contributed the price. I'v tried a few others, but this is absolutely the best. Be sure to read the PDA manual to get the full benefit of the power of this program."

"This is one of the best software packages tested and now I use it constantly. It's very easy to configure ; W&B is simply a matter of entering the appropriate values from the POH. Once done for a specific aeroplane , the values can be easily tranasmitted to other users with a PALM device."

"I am a Military Flight Instructor in Canada, and use the co-Pilot to double check my student's flight planning for any large discrepancies. Quick and easy to use, I waste no time in giving myself the comfort I need that his enroute calculations are sufficiently accurate to not worry about gross miscalculations that might get us into trouble later. It allows me to concentrate on other tasks vs. looking over his shoulder the entire time. Very well done, gentlemen. The best flight planner I have used yet!"

"I am a student pilot, and about to go for my check ride. Co-Pilot has been extremely useful in helping me plan my dual and solo cross-country flights. For my training, I have to work my plans using a plotter and whiz-wheel, but I always check the sanity of my plans using Co-Pilot on my Palm. What a useful program! Unbelievable that the program is Free. Sincere thanks to Laurie Davis. Its a keeper!"

"Tried several freeware and commercial flight planning tools and found CoPilot did the essential job better than any others. Follows the Palm paradigm of sticking to the basic goal and doing it well. Downloading local waypoints from the author's website is a must."

"Fantastic piece of software, and, get this, it's absolutely free. I bought a palm device just so I could use CoPilot (yes, I also addresses and calendar functions on the palm). It's great for flight planning, and it will quickly do a reverse route for you. Add to that the database available for it and it's a wonder that this program is not being charged for. Kudos Mr. Davis!"

"If you own a Palm and are a Pilot you MUST have this one. If I have to keep only one aeronautical application sure it would be CoPilot. Only thing I can't understand is why worst softs are being charged while Laurie's still keeps the real web spirit and is being given for free... Not so time consuming to configure w&b... if you do have the POH, but you DO, isn't it? ;o)"

"This is the only planner I have downloaded for the palm, but I wouldn't go any farther. When used with the custom databases (download instruction's included) you can almost leave the charts in the bag (except for terrain). Makes me wonder why I have Jeppesen Flight Soft"
