News: F-16 Crashes, Are Spiders To Blame?
Posted by Matthew Justice on Aug 6, 2007A Dutch F-16 that crashed in August of 2006 may have been brought down by a spider in the cockpit. The pilot who died but did not eject was possibly distracted by a spider. Dutch investigators were unable to find the exact cause of the crash since the black-box was not found, but did comment that vermin was found inside the cockpit. The pilots wingman said he (the other pilot) called a mayday then went into a steep dive into a hillside.
There have been many stores from the troops about spiders, snakes and scorpions inside and outside of aircraft so this story could be true, but until the blackbox is found we may never know.
