Site News: We are Back and Stronger

I wanted to post a quick Blog post about what has been going on at AviationReviews. For those who use our site on a regular basis you must have noticed that our site has been down. The short answer for this downtime is that we had a drive failure on our main production web server. This drive failure required the professional services of a drive recovery company, a clean-room, and lots of money :-)

But, now we're back and we were able to restore the entire site back to the way it was prior to the drive failure. To prevent this from happening in the future we are going to be adding off-site backups, daily standard backups and full monthly backups. The combination of these techniques will ensure that our site remains up and never have such a long downtime ever again. Lesson learning: backup your server and source code on a regular basis.
