Press Release: navAero tBag C22 Class II EFB Achieves STC on MD-80
Posted by Matthew Justice on Jan 28, 2008JANUARY 14, 2008 Chicago, IL USA — the navAero tBag™C22 has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) as a Class 2 Electronic Flight Bag system on the MD-82/83/87 Series aircraft.
Executed by navAero in cooperation with U.S. Technical and Allegiant Airlines, this marks yet another STC achieved for the navAero tBagC22 Class 2 EFB hardware. The STC Number ST02409CH-D or the MD-82/83/87 aircrafts was issued on November 6, 2007. Allegiant plans a fleet-wide deployment of the navAero EFB hardware on its MD-80 aircrafts. As a Class II device, the navAero tBag™C22 system is suitable for use during all phases of flight.
navAero spokesperson, Ken Crowhurst, stated “We are tremendously excited about achieving this STC for our Class 2 EFB system into one of the world's most enduring aircraft types. With the navAero tBag™ C22 Class II EFB computer and display technology, we are giving MD-80 operators the ability to bring glass cockpit-type technology in this aircraft. Our STC gives them the ability to deploy a rugged hardware platform suitable for running the most demanding and advanced electronic charting applications and other aviation software - all of which are designed to give commercial airlines the technology that can allow them to improve their operational efficiency and increase their situational awareness.
