News: 47th Paris Air Show

Airbus A300ST ...

Hard to believe another two years have passed but the Paris airshow is about to start rolling again at Le Bourget. Starting on Monday, June 18th and ending on the 24th this is still the largest and oldest airshow (dating back to 1909). Le Bourget became famous when Charles Lindbergh made his non-stop flight from New York and is now mainly used for business jets traveling to Paris.

Organizers are expecting 500,000 visitors, 2,000+ exhibitors, 140 display aircraft and over 40+ flying demonstrations including the massive Airbus A380. The Paris Air Show has also been known for big sales where airlines and companies purchase aircraft and broker deals.

Having attended the Paris Air Show in 2001, I was able to see first-hand the magnitude of the show, exhibit hall, and demonstrations. The two most impressive sights for me in 2001 were the Antonov 225 (largest cargo plane at the time) and a very impressive Airbus A340-600 low-altitude slow flight demo. Above is a photo I took during the event in 2001 of the Airbus A300ST Super Guppy.
