Article: 5 Key Attributes of a Successful Aviation Web Site
Posted by Matthew Justice on Aug 12, 2007I came across this article awhile ago and wanted to revive it to share with others. This article is a great checkpoint for those running a website or thinking of starting a new website. The author (Jason Liepe) points out 5 main areas that you should focus on for your aviation website and I agree with all of them. This list does not just apply to aviation sites. I think these tips should be followed by everyone developing and planning websites.
1. Focused - Keep your site on-topic. What is the reason for your organization's existence?
2. Findable - Make sure your website can be found by others.
3. Viewable - Make sure your site displays correctly in various browsers and resolutions.
4. Clear - Keep the site and navigation clear. Contact information is readily available.
5. Consistent - Maintain a constant theme throughout.
This goes along with my favorite web design book by Steve Krug called "Don't Make Me Think" (see link below). This book is a MUST read for anyone that wants to develop a user-friendly site!
