News: Continental Airlines Offering Live TV and Wi-Fi
Posted by Matthew Justice on Feb 5, 2008Continental will soon be offering in-flight web access and TV entertainment. The in-flight web access will be provided by LiveTV, a wholly owned subsidiary of JetBlue Airways. Continental will also begin offering in-flight entertainment. The Houston based carrier will offer up to 36 channels free to first class passengers and for a nominal $6 fee to those in economy.
The service will be offered to passengers on Continental's new Boeing 737-700s, 800s, 900s and B-757-300s joining the fleet.
According to what I have been reading around the internet, the wi-fi system might be limited for use with Yahoo and Blackberry syncing. Whereas Southwest Airlines will be going with a full-blown internet access system, with only one exception they will be blocking VoIP connections.
