News: Bio Fuel Getting Closer

Posted by Matthew Justice on Feb 13, 2008

Bio Jet One ...

I am a big fan on doing good things for our environment and like to see projects and companies that are doing good things. A project called GreenFlight International is on a mission to travel 22,000 miles using Bio-Fuel in a Lear 25. The record breaking around the world flight will be the first of it's kind and will be televised in High Definition Format and distributed world wide.

Last October (2007) Green Flight International made their first jet flight powered by 100% bio fuel in their test aircraft a 1968 Czechoslovakian L-29 Delfin trainer. They started with a mix of jet and biofuel and then worked their way up to 100-percent vegetable oil flight, which climbed to 17,000 feet. They will now start doing high-altitude flights and if all go well, the team is planning an eight-city cross-country flight, and a trip to AeroShell Square at EAA AirVenture 2008.
