News: ALPA Takes Action By Running An Ad in The USA Today Newspaper
Posted by Matthew Justice on Mar 20, 2008I came across this posting on the PlaneMadness site. The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has run an ad on the back of the Money section in today's USA Today newspaper to promote the CrewPASS system.
This was done on the cusp of informational picketing at Washington National Airport (DCA). “Look for reports on the picketing and leafleting of TSA headquarters later today”, according to the ALPA website.
The ad (see link below) reads “On September 11, 2001 Foreign Terrorist Attached America ...” The ad also goes on to talk about how U.S. airline pilots are vetted, subject to criminal background checks, trusted to carry firearms and responsible for the lives of every passenger on every flight. With this being said, crew still have to go through the same TSA security checkpoints as everyone else, causing delays, hassle and more.
So in summary, I think this is a good idea based on what I have seen so far. This would not only make lines speed up but also help the TSA focus on screening others that need to be checked. What do you think is the CrewPASS system a good idea or bad idea?
