With the 4-hole pattern on the base plate of the Magnifico Plus being an exact match with the 4-holes that mount the GPS cradle to the Garmin GPS yoke mount, you may retrofit the present Magnifico Plus model with any of Garmin GPSMAP 96 Series unit using the steps below ...
- Bend the upright portion of the base of the plus at a suitable angle that would clear the GPS release mechanism from the mount as shown in the photo.
- Remove the 4 screws that connect the GPS cradle to the yoke mount.
- Sandwich the base of the plus between the GPS cradle and the yoke mount.
- Secure the assembly by mounting the 4 screws through the cradle and the base of the plus to the mount.
Pros: Works with almost every type of handheld device, simple to use, makes seeing small images and text much easier.
Cons: Difficult to keep the lens clean and difficult to access PDA from under glass, might not work with some GPS units and mounts.
